KABC news reporter and editor face criminal charges

A KABC news reporter and editor face charges of defrauding the state

of registration fees and marijuana possession, respectively.

Bryan Jenkins, 45, of Culver City and Kimberly White, 44, of

Glendale, were arrested and released with citations Monday after a

Glendale Police officer ran the plate of Jenkins’ 1994 Ford Explorer

and saw its registration was expired, contrary to the current sticker

it displayed. The officer spoke to Jenkins, who was staying at the

Griffith Park Motel at 1634 Victory Blvd., about the sticker and

Jenkins initially said he placed the sticker on his sport utility

vehicle by mistake, according to police reports. Later, Jenkins told

the officer a friend gave him the sticker because he could not afford

to pay his registration, police said.

While the officer spoke to Jenkins, he smelled marijuana and

noticed Jenkins’ eyes were bloodshot and watery, which is consistent

with marijuana use, police said. The officer also spoke to White, who

said she got the marijuana from friends in Los Angeles, according to

the report.

Jenkins’ license plate and the marijuana were seized and booked as

evidence.
